When do you use helical gear reducers or worm gear reducers?
Worm gear reducers are used for applications ranging from low to medium horsepower. They offer low cost, high reduction ratios, and high output torque in a compact package. They exhibit greater tolerance to shock loads compared to helical gear reducers. Helical gear reducers, on the other hand, are suited for high-horsepower applications where long-term operational efficiency is more critical than initial investment costs.

The position of the output shaft relative to its reducer input shaft is referred to as the configuration of the hand. This is commonly designated as right-handed (J), left-handed dominant (G), or ambidextrous (H) if the output shaft is doubly extended.

Is it advantageous for the application to use synthetic lubricant in the transmission?
Most synthetic lubricants have lower pour points, high resistance to oxidation, and are more readily compatible with additives than conventional oil-based lubricants. Therefore, a gearbox will benefit from using synthetic lubricants under any of the following conditions: extremely hot or cold ambient temperatures; heavy-duty applications involving difficult-to-handle loads; continuous operation under demanding conditions; or limited lubrication intervals.
